Welcome to the Saint
Augustine Community Chorus home page.
Our new concert season
began
with the popular annual Christmas
concert on Sunday, December 9, 2007, under the musical leadership of our
two outstanding conductors, Ms. Kathleen Vande Berg and Dr. Theodore
Mathews. The performance was at the Cathedral Basilica in
downtown St. Augustine, and included selections by G.F. Handel, with the Hallelujah
chorus, as well as other holiday music.
The enthusiastic audience, which filled
the Cathedral to overflowing, warmly welcomed us back to this location
after more than 10 years!
On Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2, 2008, our very popular yearly
Pops concert, featuring highlights from Showboat, will be
performed at the St. Augustine High School.
The Masterworks concert, the final event of the season, will be
performed at Ancient City Baptist Church, on May 4, 2008, and will
feature the music of J.S. Bach.
The St. Augustine
Community sponsors two other choral groups, The St. Augustine Singers,
under the direction of Kathleen Vande Berg, and the St. Augustine
Children's Chorus, led by Kerry Fradley. More information on these two
fine groups will appear soon on this website.
The Saint Augustine
Community Chorus has been dedicated to those who enjoy quality choral
music since its first performance of Handel’s Messiah in 1948. Please
feel free to explore our web site for further information about the
Chorus, including concert and rehearsal schedules.
We look forward to
seeing you this concert season,
Paul Martin
President
